Smoothies are a great way to get high levels of nutrition in an easy to digest form. Try some of these recipes or use them as launching pads to create your own. Contact us if you have a favorite recipe you think others would enjoy.

 

BERRY BANANA:

Packed with fiber, potassium, Vitamin C, and pure SWEETNESS…who says eating healthy & instant gratification are mutually exclusive?

 

Combine the following ingredients in a blender until creamy smooth:

  1. 1 ripe banana
  2. 1 cup fresh or frozen berries (strawberries & blueberries are favorites)
  3. Half cup water or fresh squeezed juice (orange or apple taste great)

Optional: Add some green leafy vegetables like spinach, cos lettuce, romaine lettuce, or silverbeet

 

GREEN SMOOTHIE
Combine the following in a blender & mix til creamy smooth:
  • 4 kale leaves (organic if possible, stems removed, so just the leafy bit)
  • 1 ripe mango
  • 1/4 pineapple, frozen if possible
  • 1 cup water + some ice cubes

 

BERRY YOGURT ZING

One of our favourites! Just blend the following…

  1. 1/2 cup kefir (home made or purchased from a health food store)
  2. 1 cup water or raw organic milk
  3. 1 large frozen banana
  4. 1 avocado
  5. 1 handful of spinach (or equivalent green leafy vegetable)
  6. 2 dates
  7. Up to 1 cup frozen raspberries (and/or blueberries)
  8. 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (raw, plant-derived)

 

CHOCOLATE SMOOTHIE

Combine the following in a blender & mix til creamy smooth:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 to 1 whole ripe avocado
  • 3 dates (remove the pit, or suffer the consequences)
  • 2 tablespoons raw cacao powder (not just regular chocolate!)
  • 1 cup cold water & 3-4 ice cubes
GREEN BLUEBERRIES
  • 1 ripe pear
  • 1 whole banana
  • Half cup to 1 cup frozen or fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup dark green lettuce of your choice (not iceberg)
  • 1 cup water…blend away!
BANANA-DATE SHAKE
  • Soak 1/2 cup of raw almonds overnight (12-24 hours), then rinse thoroughly
  • Combine in a blender with 5-6 dates (pits removed)
  • At least 1 frozen banana
  • About 1 cup clean cold water (or raw coconut milk, or raw cow’s milk) & a couple ice cubes
  • Blend until as creamy as possible.
